What Does it Take to Be Confident?
Are you ready to truly be confident?
You may have already read a dozen books on the topic, trawled through the internet looking for advice, or asked all your successful friends for help, but I hope to offer my ideas and add a new perspective on what it takes to achieve true confidence.
Many people believe limiting beliefs such as “you have to be perfect to be confident,” but that may be holding you back.
If you’re struggling with feeling confident in your own skin or putting yourself out there, this is the place for you.
Ready to dive into a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into true confidence?
Always Remember to Challenge Limiting Beliefs
Always remember to challenge limiting beliefs that may be holding you back.
If you’ve been finding yourself stuck in a rut, reflecting on how a certain thought or belief is holding you back, you may want to challenge it.
Ask yourself, why do I think this way and who benefits from me thinking this way or taking this action?
It’s important to challenge these thoughts and beliefs. They may not be serving you in any way and could actually be preventing you from achieving your goals.
By recognizing and challenging these limiting beliefs, you can create a positive mindset shift and move forward toward your desired outcomes.
When we have a recurring thought or belief that we can’t seem to shake, it’s essential to challenge it.
We must question where it’s coming from, whether it’s true, and if it’s helping us or holding us back.
It’s easy to get stuck in patterns of thought and self-talk that limit our potential and prevent us from pursuing our goals.
For example, if you believe that you’re not good enough to start your own business or pursue a certain career path, ask yourself why.
Is it because you lack experience or education? Or is it because someone else told you that you weren’t capable, and you internalized that message?
It’s crucial to remember that we have the power to change our thought patterns and beliefs.
By challenging limiting beliefs, we can break free from self-imposed barriers and open up new possibilities for ourselves.
So the next time you catch yourself thinking something negative or self-defeating, ask yourself who benefits from that thought, and what would happen if you challenged it.

My Routine for Success
I am happy to say my daily routine has played a crucial role in my journey toward achieving more confidence and has helped me build the faith in myself I need to get things done.
I have struggled for a long time with believing in myself and it’s something I have to work on every single day.
One thing I’ve learned is I must invest heavily in my self-care in order to repair my confidence.
So, taking time to reassure myself, keep my mindset in check, and work on feeling I am capable of handling the challenging things that come my way is key to feeling more confident.
By giving myself self-care, I am demonstrating to myself; I am someone who is important and worthy of being cared for.
So, therefore, should expect this from other people too.
Morning
My day starts by helping my daughter out the door, followed by a 20-minute walk where I listen to podcasts on personal development. (I love the Mindset Mentor!)
When I get back, I settle into a 15 minute meditation and mindset session. This builds my confidence before I tackle my workday.
Lunchtime
During lunchtime, I take a break, make sure I eat something decent and nourishing. I do some light stretches to clear my mind, and get some fresh air.
I always have a cup of tea and do some more mindfulness practices. Being grateful is my favorite.
Watching my self-talk is something else I do to build my confidence.
I distract myself if I hear the mean girls getting all fired up and talk to myself gently to get things back on track.
Evenings
I dedicate my evenings to spending quality time with my family and pets. This helps me recharge and unwind after a long day.
Before heading to bed, I write down my ta-da list. My ta-da list is a list of things I have achieved today and am proud of.
I go to sleep listening to a subconscious reprogramming audio on the topic that is causing the most headaches for me at the time.
Why This Works for Me
I stick to this routine because it has proven to be effective in helping me achieve my goals.
My morning meditation and workout sessions give me a sense of purpose and help me feel more grounded, while my evening family time helps me maintain a healthy work-life balance.
I also prioritize getting enough sleep each night, as I know that adequate rest is crucial for my overall well-being and productivity.
Self-care is key
You will notice there is nothing in here about practicing being assertive etc. Because that’s not going to help me (yet).
My number one focus (and yours should be too!) is developing a strong unshakable relationship and commitment to my own well-being.
This helps because when I’m in a standoff with someone, I am loyal to myself. Instead of giving away all my power to the other person in the hope they will give me validation and like me.
I don’t care anymore, because I like myself and I am the only person whose opinion matters.
So, if you’re struggling to establish a routine that supports your dreams, don’t be afraid to mix things up or get rid of parts that don’t work for you.
Remember, what works for someone else may not work for you, and that’s okay.
The important thing is to keep experimenting until you find what works best for you.
By creating a routine that serves you, you’ll be better equipped to achieve an increase in confidence and live your best life.
Some Advice from Brene Brown
The lovely Brene Brown has some critical advice for you.
She says, “Confidence is not walking into a room thinking you’re better than everyone. It’s walking in, not having to compare yourself to anyone at all.”
Now that’s being more confident!

Never Let the Mean Girls Win
Your anxiety means well when she says,” it’s safer to keep quiet, it doesn’t really matter,” and so on, but it’s another thing that’s holding you back.
The way anxiety uses the mean girls in your head, makes you scared to change, to do anything different. They want you to keep doubting yourself, so you stay small (and in their view, safe).
Instead, look for experts like Brene Brown and Mel Robbins for guidance.
These are kind, warm-hearted women who are confident (even when they don’t feel it) and speak up for themselves and others with love and kindness.
When you’re running out of steam working on building your confidence, this quote from Mel Robbins may spur you on:
“Confidence is not the belief in self. Confidence is the willingness to try.“ Mel Robbins
See, you don’t have to be perfect at it, just committed to improving a little bit every day.
You need confidence to achieve your goals and dreams.
Now, just because you currently don’t have the confidence you need doesn’t mean you can’t build it up.
This does mean you need to take some steps to work on building your confidence before you can reach your milestones.
But I believe in you and know that you can do it :).
Let’s be specific in planning how you will gain confidence:
- Identify your limiting beliefs and work on changing them through affirmations and positive self-talk.
- Step out of your comfort zone and try new things, even if they scare you.
- Celebrate your accomplishments and give yourself credit for your successes, no matter how small.
